Jun 14, Paul Sedlock rated it really liked it. Mceevitt a pretty neat concept, and real easy to get lost in the world he creates for you. The books there were in excellent condition and supposedly less than a hundred years old. I am totally hooked on well-written post-apocalyptic fantasies that reflect broken and collapsed civilizations. But you won’t need to re-read it.
In Mississippi the community of Illyria is just beginning to reemerge from the destruction. When one citizen eternigy an expedition to find the fabled “Haven”, where all the lost books of the Roadmakers are stored, written about by the mythical Abraham Polk, eeternity returns alone and empty handed, the rest of the party reportedly dead. Also, Karik’s actions make no sense.
A previous expedition east of the Mississippi learned nothing and there was only one survivor. I know that the episode where Chaka talks to a holographic Winston Churchill was included as a short story in Wastelands: Muller rated it really liked it.

His work has been on the final ballot for the Nebula Awards for 12 of the past 13 years. And of course Silas, the most intellectually engaged and curious of the group, was too dead to investigate further.
